(See below for English) Orkanen Irene drog igenom NYC tidigt imorse och det regnade kraftigt hela natten. Märkte inte av så mycket alls förutom att det började läcka från taket här i mina vänners lägenhet. Det blev till att snabbt som attan flytta på allt i läckage-området och sedan ringa “Supern” medan man rafsade runt efter handdukar att torka med, och kastruller och hinkar att samla upp vatten med. Klockan fem på morgonen…
På eftermiddagen vågade vi oss ut. Det blåste fortfarande ganska kraftigt, men det var bara löv (inga träd, tack för det) som for runt på Madison Avenue. Förstå min lycka när vegorestaurangen/juicebaren GOBO var öppen och jag kunde få mig en alldeles färskpressad juice. Min Liquid Life serverades i en söt liten karaff och innehöll vetegräs, morot, rödbetor, selleri och äpple och smakade alldeles underbart. Efter det och en grönsaksfylld noriwrap till middag känns allt mer än väl här på Upper East.
ENGLISH: Hurricane Irene passed through NYC early this morning, and before that it rained heavily all night. Didn’t notice much at all except that water started pouring in from the ceiling here in my friends’ apartment. Which meant quickly moving everything in the leakage-zone, then calling the Super while rifling around for towels to wipe nd pots and bucket to gather the water with. At five in the morning…
In the afternoon we braved the streets. It was still pretty windy out, but only leaves (no trees, thankfully) were flying around Madison Ave. Imagine the happiness I felt when veg restaurant/juice bar GOBO was open and I could get a perfectly fresh-squezed juice. My Liquid Life was served in the cutest little decanter and contained wheat grass, carrot, beets, celery and apple and tasted divine. After that and a veggie-filled nori wrap for dinner all is more than well here on the Upper East.
